FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How is Renewabuild different from other hemp building products?
Hemp is traditionally used in in situ hempcrete, where it is mixed with lime, tamped into forms, and cured on-site, this method is costly and time-consuming. Additionally, it doesn’t eliminate the need for concrete and steel, major polluters in the construction industry. Renewabuild innovates by making hemp products structural, a key advancement in the move towards renewable building materials.
What makes Renewabuild blocks structural?
Our product is a structural building block composed of two main parts: a polymer composite frame and a hemp-lime composite core. The hemp-lime mixture inside the frame is cured using a combination of radio frequency, microwaves, and natural gas heaters to initiate the curing process.
What other benefits do Renewabuild blocks offer?
Our product offers numerous benefits: it’s fireproof, 99.99% mold-resistant, and boasts impressive flexural and shear strength. It can withstand wind speeds up to 500 miles per hour.
Forest fires have devastated communities globally, including four cities in British Columbia in the past three years. California and Oregon also face massive fire problems. Inside commercial facilities storing poultry, swine, cattle, horses, and produce, mold is a significant issue, often requiring costly remediation. Our product can control moisture, reducing overhead costs. Additionally, numerous horses die in barn fires annually due to wood structures.
Our solutions are also relevant for machine learning data centers, where energy costs are rising due to the high computational power needed. Our super-insulated product, with an expected R70 rating, can reduce cooling costs and improve thermal insulation. It doesn’t burn, mold, or require a vapor barrier, and can withstand strong winds.
